Plant of the Month – June – Sansevieria
Sansevieria is commonly known as mother in laws tongue.
Sansevieria derives from the subtropical regions of Africa, Europe and Asia.
Sansevieria is an evergreen with dense clumps of strap shaped foliage
Sansevieria is an elegant sculptural plant used for dramatic effect
Sansevieria was apparently named after Raimond di Sangro (1710 – 1771) who was prince of San Severo in Italy.
- Some species of Sansevieria have antiseptic qualities, and in some cultures it has traditionally been used for first aid.
- Some varieties of this plant are also used in the poduction of fibre
